Hand embroidery 201 - ”More stitches’
Embroidery 201 is perfect for those comfortable with basic embroidery stitches (see techniques covered in Hand Embroidery 101) but feeling that they would love to expand their stitch repertoire!
We will work 9 stitch techniques, including Blanket, Couching, Fly, Satin stitch with a single strand of thread, and woven wheels! As this class includes fill stitches, we will learn how to begin stitching without a knot. This class will also dive into the wide world of hand stitching needles as we use different amounts of thread to achieve precise stitching.
Crewel Hand Embroidery
The goal of this beginning crewel class is for students to gain knowledge of traditional techniques and materials used in crewel embroidery. We will cover laid stitches such as trellis, outlining, and shading stitch techniques such as long & short blending, turkey work, as well as how to use tools, wool threads, and quality linen twill fabric. In our first session, we will learn stitch techniques and become comfortable with using wool threads on a doodle cloth. Our second session will be dedicated to beginning a small pattern. Pattern selections will be available to students in class, but if you have an idea please bring it!
Beginning hand embroidery
Learn surface embroidery in a two session format. We will dive into 7 stitch techniques and practice pattern transfer and stitch application.
